When I get home from the mall I imminently flip open
the phone book. I page through the flimsy pages of the Vedas looking for
Betsy’s address, knowing that her father is a well-respected Judge, knowing
that she lives in the north side of town
I want to phone Betsy. Then I think it would be
weird if her parent’s answer since I’m in high school and she’s like in third
grade.
Then I think that she’ll ask about how things are
working on with her wisp and I’ll say that has a good run but had to call it a
day and Betsy will somehow be moved to tears.
I decide to look for Pam’s number instead.
Only I find nothing.
Nothing listed at all.
